"Dr. Eve Christine Gadzikwa — Trailblazing Corporate Governance Giant, Former Director General of the Standards Association of Zimbabwe (SAZ), First Female Board Chair of the Zimbabwe Stock Exchange & Institute of Directors, Past President of ARSO, and CEO of MWTZ"
Dr. Eve Christine Gadzikwa (née Mandaza) stands as one of Southern Africa's most distinguished corporate executives, governance champions, and standards pioneers — a trailblazing leader who became the first woman in Zimbabwe to simultaneously head the Standards Association of Zimbabwe (SAZ) as Director General, the Zimbabwe Stock Exchange (ZSE) as Board Chairperson, and the Institute of Directors Zimbabwe (IoDZ) as Board Chairperson. Over a career spanning more than 25 years in public and private sector leadership, Dr. Gadzikwa has shaped quality management, corporate governance standards, clinical laboratory proficiency, and international trade standardization across Africa.
Born on December 24, 1964, in Marondera, Zimbabwe, Eve Gadzikwa was raised in Zambia, where her father worked in the Nchanga copper mines in Chingola and her mother served as a registered nurse and midwife. She attended Fatima Girls High in Ndola before returning to Zimbabwe at age 15 to complete her secondary education at St. John's High School in Harare. A qualified microbiologist and fellow of the Institute of Medical Laboratory and Clinical Scientist Council of Zimbabwe, she earned a Marketing Management Diploma from IMM South Africa, a Master's Degree in Business Administration (MBA) from the University of Nottingham, and a Doctorate in Business Administration.
Dr. Gadzikwa's early career focused on medical laboratory testing and quality assurance, serving for six years as Executive Director of the Zimbabwe National Quality Assurance Trust (ZINQAP). In September 2008, she was appointed Director General and Secretary to the Standards Association of Zimbabwe (SAZ), a position she held with distinction for over a decade. Under her leadership, SAZ modernized national quality standards, expanded ISO certifications for local industries, and strengthened consumer protection, making Zimbabwean products competitive in global markets.
Her corporate governance expertise led to historic board leadership appointments. As Board Chairperson of the Zimbabwe Stock Exchange (2010–2015), she presided over landmark capital market reforms and technology modernization. As Chair of the Institute of Directors Zimbabwe (2010–2015), she championed corporate ethical leadership, board evaluation, and the implementation of the National Code on Corporate Governance Zimbabwe (ZimCode). Her leadership extended continentally when she was elected the 13th President (and first female President) of the African Organisation for Standardisation (ARSO) from 2016 to 2019, championing harmonized trade standards under the African Continental Free Trade Area (AfCFTA).
Author of the acclaimed leadership book 'I Dare You to Lead', Dr. Gadzikwa has also served on the boards of BancABC Zimbabwe, Slice Distributors, Gwanda University Council, and SADCAS. In 2022, she was appointed Chief Executive Officer of Machining World Trade Zimbabwe (MWTZ), continuing her lifelong mission of industrial excellence and economic growth.
Today, Dr. Eve Christine Gadzikwa stands proudly enshrined on the Zimbabwe Digital Wall of Fame as a true ZimLegend — a pioneering governance titan, standards champion, author, and historic leader whose corporate achievements continue to inspire generations of African executives.
