    Charity Zisengwe

"Award-Winning Contemporary Christian Singer-Songwriter, Worship Leader, Intercessor, Bible Teacher & Founder of Glory Fields Ministries"

Charity Zisengwe (pronounced Zee-SANK-way) stands as one of Zimbabwe's most gifted, internationally celebrated, and spiritually profound contemporary Christian music artists, worship leaders, intercessors, and Bible teachers. Born and raised in Mutoko, Zimbabwe, she has carved out an illustrious cross-cultural ministry that seamlessly fuses vibrant African praise sensibilities, soaring contemporary Christian music (CCM), and intricate a cappella choral harmonies. As the founder of Glory Fields Ministries (established in 2006) and the First Place winner of the prestigious 2006 Babbie Mason International Songwriting Competition for her immortal anthem 'There Is A Way', Charity has ministered before diverse congregations, collegiate audiences, and national Christian television broadcasts across North America, the United Kingdom, and southern Africa, carrying the torch of Zimbabwean gospel excellence into the global arena.

Growing up in Mutoko, Mashonaland East, Charity was nurtured in a profoundly devout Christian home where both of her parents were respected pillars of the United Methodist Church. Her father served faithfully for decades as the Lay Leader of their local congregation, while her mother was the church treasurer and longtime leader of the women's fellowship (Ruwadzano). The seventh of nine children (three brothers and four sisters), young Charity's childhood was steeped in biblical instruction, intercessory prayer, and the resonant four-part hymnody of the Methodist tradition. These early years forged her enduring character, but they were also marked by profound personal crucible: she endured the heart-wrenching loss of her eldest brother in 1996, followed by the passing of her beloved mother in 2003 and her father in 2005. Rather than shaking her faith, these seasons of grief deepened her intimacy with God and gave her music its trademark vulnerability, compassion, and consoling spiritual authority.

Charity experienced her personal spiritual rebirth during her first year of secondary education at Murewa High School in Zimbabwe, where she made a conscious commitment to Jesus Christ. Her musical gifts quickly blossomed within the school's vibrant fellowship culture. During her third year, she formed a female vocal trio with two of her dormitory roommates, Rhoda Chani and Kezzie Ndori. Their tight harmonies and passionate worship resonated so powerfully across the student body that other young people clamored to join, eventually expanding the humble dorm trio into a magnificent 50-voice mass student choir. Alongside her musical leadership, Charity served as an executive leader of Scripture Union at Murewa High, guiding Bible studies, mentoring younger students, and laying the groundwork for her future global ministry as an inspirational speaker and Christian educator.

Following her high school graduation, Charity moved to the United States to pursue higher education, demonstrating that spiritual devotion and academic excellence walk hand in hand. She enrolled at Montclair State University in New Jersey, where she graduated with a Bachelor of Science (BSc) in Business Administration majoring in Marketing. Eager to expand her international corporate competencies, she subsequently traveled to London, United Kingdom, where she earned a Post Graduate Diploma in Marketing from the globally revered Chartered Institute of Marketing (CIM). Her rigorous background in strategic marketing and communications equipped her with unique organizational acumen, enabling her to independently manage her recording projects, author inspirational curriculum, and steer Glory Fields Ministries with international professional standards.

While establishing her professional career, the call of God upon Charity's life to spiritual warfare and intercession intensified. In 1997, she formally consecrated herself to the ministry of intercession, standing in prayer for families, churches, youth, and global nations. This spiritual foundation deepened over the subsequent decade, and in 2006 she founded Glory Fields Ministries as a registered platform to release music, organize intercessory worship gatherings, encourage Christian singles, and support community empowerment initiatives. In 2008, she launched a widely praised outreach sharing her personal testimony on living purposefully as a single Christian woman, which led to frequent keynote speaking invitations at women's conferences, college campuses, and youth retreats across the United States and abroad.

Charity's breakthrough as a premier Christian songwriter began in December 2003 when she felt an irresistible divine inspiration to compose original music. To hone her craft under professional scrutiny, in May 2004 she attended the world-famous Babbie Mason Music Conference International held at the Simpsonwood Retreat Center in Norcross, Georgia. Mentored directly by Grammy-nominated and GMA Dove Award-winning Christian music icon Babbie Mason, Charity immersed herself in the disciplines of lyrical construction, vocal arrangement, and melody craft. She took the courageous step of rewriting every single one of her compositions in light of what she had learned. When she returned to the conference in 2006 to enter the international songwriting competition, her uplifting, faith-fueled anthem 'There Is A Way' swept the judges and captured the coveted First Place Prize, firmly establishing her among the most gifted emergent songwriters in contemporary gospel music.

Equipped with award-winning songs, Charity entered the recording studio with acclaimed producer and arranger Jeffrey B. Rogers at Jeffrey B Rogers Music and Creative Services in Georgia. In a rare and stunning demonstration of vocal control and technical prowess, Charity recorded her entire debut album without back-up singers—personally laying down every lead vocal and tracking all three-part harmonies herself with pristine precision. She initially released this self-harmonizing tour de force as an a cappella collection, self-titled 'Charity Zisengwe', in 2007. In February 2008, she followed up with the fully orchestrated, dynamic instrumentation version titled 'Introducing Charity Z'. Featuring standout tracks such as 'There Is A Way', 'The Glory of the Latter House', 'I'm Getting There', 'Mirror', 'We Crown Him With Many Crowns', 'Let Your Love Break Through', 'In You', and the devotional favorite 'I Want To Be In Your Presence', the album received glowing reviews across contemporary Christian radio and online streaming platforms.

In October 2010, Charity released her highly anticipated sophomore studio album, 'AMAZING', produced by respected worship leader and musician Sonny Lallerstedt in Marietta, Georgia. 'AMAZING' is a masterclass 11-track collection of entirely original compositions penned by Charity, including the powerful worship singles 'More Than Enough', 'Hide Me In Your Love', 'All Things New', and the jubilant title track. Throughout this season, she shared prestigious concert stages with international mentor Babbie Mason and made high-profile guest appearances on American television networks, including Atlanta's WATC TV57 ('Babbie's House' and 'Atlanta Live') and Watchmen Broadcasting's flagship program 'Club 36' (WBPI), articulating her testimony and inspiring hundreds of thousands of viewers with her poise, warmth, and apostolic clarity.

After more than 15 years in the United States diaspora, Charity made the courageous decision to return home to Zimbabwe. Bringing back her wealth of international experience, an eight-track gospel CD addressing national perseverance, and an unwavering commitment to societal upliftment, she has continued to pour her life into Zimbabwean youth, educational learning support, and intercessory ministry. Her heart for the next generation is reflected in her dedicated work as a learning support specialist and special needs educator in Harare, while continuing to lead worship and encourage congregations across denominations with songs of hope, resilience, and spiritual awakening.

Today, Charity Zisengwe stands proudly and deservedly enshrined on the Zimbabwe Digital Wall of Fame as a true ZimLegend. Through her award-winning songwriting, her pioneering self-harmonized recordings, her visionary founding of Glory Fields Ministries, and her international ambassadorial role alongside gospel luminaries like Babbie Mason, she represents the pinnacle of Zimbabwean contemporary Christian music excellence and faithful servant leadership. Her life and music will forever resonate as a testament of unyielding faith, reminding believers around the world that no matter how steep the mountain, 'There Is A Way' — walking down memory lane with us, lest we forget.
